Stephen King Under the Dome Review

Under the Dome Review
While 1088 pages seems a daunting read, this novel is so packed with action that the pages just fly. Before a reader realizes it, this novel will slam home with an ending to grab the heart.

Many have compared Under the Dome to The Stand due to its length and its similar themes, but Under the Dome puts a whole new twist on apocalyptic fiction. On that same note, this novel does not feature the drag that plagued The Stand. While many have predicted that The Stand and Under the Dome are brothers, the reality is that they are more like distant cousins. The Stand was a novel that was great, especially in originality, but Under the Dome is the better of the two.

This novel embroils the reader into the life and issues of a small town with a not-so upstanding leader. King introduces an entire town’s worth of characters that readers can come to love and laugh with. The reader will also weep with them. King makes each and every character, no matter how large or small, so real it is as if the reader is standing in the room with them. The scenes of this novel are so graphic in description; the reader gets a ringside seat to all of the scandal and action. On several occasions, this reviewer found herself lost in emotion; the heart stopped, the laughter rang, and the tears stained the pages of Under the Dome.

If a reader is looking for an action packed novel that will stay glued to their fingers, Under the Dome is that novel. Be warned, once the reader starts the ride, it is nearly impossible to put this novel down; this reviewer spent a few late nights engrossed in Under the Dome instead of sleeping. Under the Dome is a must-read for all Stephen King fans, thriller fans, and those who enjoy life-changing novels.
